At the initial evaluation, you can expect personalized attention on you and your pet along with an all-inclusive treatment plan. Every appointment is tailored to your pets needs that day, including pain management and muscle strengthening. It is the goal of Paws Rehab to improve your dog’s quality of life!
Water Treadmill
The underwater treadmills enables dogs to begin the rehabilitation process earlier than normal. The water buoyancy allows for low-impact strengthening without having to load an injured or painful limb.
Laser Therapy
Laser therapy is safe and highly supported in Veterinary research. Laser therapy helps tissue repair by causing the following:
Endorphin release.
Vasodilation, which increases blood flow to bring oxygen and cells involved in the healing process.
Muscle relaxation.
Decreased inflammation.
Faster healing and repair (cited by American Animal Hospital Association).
NMES/TENS
TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) provides pain relief to the affected area via a mild electrical current. It is most commonly used for chronic or long-term pain such as joint pain, pain-related osteoarthritis or muscular pain, particularly in the back.
NMES (Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation) is used to treat muscular weakness by targeting a specific muscle with an electrical current.
Strengthening Exercise
Paws Rehab has many different types of exercise equipment that dogs can use to build muscle strength. With Dr. Tinlins extensive physical therapy practice background, there are endless possibilities of exercises ranging from beginner to advanced to aid in your pets recovery
Massage and Manual Therapy
Dr. Tinlin has spent years specializing in manual therapy techniques with humans and applies this knowledge to your dog’s care. Manual therapy includes locating trigger points in muscles, determining which muscles are tight and how to safely stretch each muscle.
Massage helps with pain-relief and optimizing posture. At Paws Rehab, every owner will be taught the proper way to perform massage on their pet - this often leads to a positive bonding experience between the owner and pet!
Home Exercise Programs
Every patient receives a custom home exercise program that includes videos and detailed instructions.. Owners will be taught how to help their pet at home leading to a more successful recovery!
